Twin Carb Manifold

Well, you will not probably be able to buy a '68 H-D KR cast alloy twin carb manifold. Even if you did, it requires a lot of hard work as in recessing the cylinders' inlet tracks, brazing/machining "in situ" special nipples...

Here's another  way to do it that I applied to a KH about 10 years ago when I went sprinting in Great Britain ( 1/4 mile drag but on your own...). Originally tried it with twin standard Tillotson carbs, vertically mounted, "a la KRTT", but it was soon apparent that idle is completely lost that way... Then mounted them the Sportster way but then they needed to be splayed out dramatically. Next improvement was a set of  twin Spanish "square" Amals, 38mm, but that did not have that "antique " look.

There's a new set up for this KH on the way but not quite tested yet. It involves a pair of early Sportster's Linkerts,1957 to 1965, the rear one mounted as normal but the front one "reversed" so that the float chamber's on the opposite side. Obviously, they have both been machined to have the racing XLR type venturi the right way round... The throttle bodies were also bored to fit the bigger Tillotson butterflies and that creates further  problems at the idle chamber... as I said, not quite sorted yet, but you can't beat their vintage look !!!

Beware!!!: if you plan to do this, there's no way you can fit a twin carb manifold and keep your cylinders standard. Some fins will have to be cut in the center of the V in order to make room for the manifold. Sealing O rings and clamps are from Std Sportster. Manifold made out of cut/brazed exhaust pipes, flanges for carbs from cut out Sportster manifolds, early smaller type. Machined cylinder and manifold nipples have  male and female 45 degree chamfers that interlock for ease of assembly and allow for a degree of misalignment. Spacing of the carbs centerlines is exactly 85mm.
